I started this journal to cross-post from tumblr, but given the uncertainty of tumblr as social media space, I’m looking to use my dreamwidth a bit more deliberately. Been in fandom since the Livejournal days altho a bit dispirited by modern fandom trends, but still love writing & talking about media.

Please feel free to comment or say hello on this post if you decide to follow! The internet allows people to connect in ways they never could before & it’s a pretty cool thing. [Just no minors / 18+ only, please.]

General About Me: She/her, in my 30’s, call me AW :-)

Access Policy
Most of my posts are and will be public, esp fandom ones. As I figure out how I want to use this journal, more personal or sensitive posts may be access only.

Life Interests
Cooking & cooking from scratch, history [esp WW1], learning how to sew/mend/embroider clothing, learning how to bookbind, smarts vs. wisdom, sustainability/greener living, the power and perils of technology [boo infinite scroll]

Media & Artistic Interests
Genre-wise, I particularly enjoy dramas, noir/crime, histories, horror (primarily written or drawn), and slice-of-life stories. I like but am pickier about fantasy & science-fiction. Scary, horrific, and/or tragic is just fine with me—very much a whump fan—and I see fiction as a space to explore the darker and/or painful sides of life. That being said, life can't always be grim, and gentler stories can be great too.

While I lean a bit more critic than artist, I’ve also been trying to work on my storytelling skills thru my 100 and 1 fics project and a GenBingo card.

Media Favs as of April 2025
Akane Banashi [I love its optimism, warmth, and emotional depth & maturity; will likely be writing the occasional meta]

Revolutionary Girl Utena [my fav TV show of all time]

Severance [I like and think both S1 and S2 are good! may post some meta about it on rewatch]

Shelved by Genre podcast by Ranged Touch [has gotten me back more into fantasy & reading along with the hosts is very fun]

Supernatural [S1 – S6, I enjoy on their own; S13 – S15, it’s more the classic fandom reaction of the potential of ideas/characters; my favs are Sam, Dean, Bela, and Jack]

The Summer Hikaru Died [love the slowburn & body horror]

The Shrieking Shack podcast [I liked Harry Potter as a kid but left it in childhood; I’m excited to listen to their history of HP fandom because it really did change both the media and fandom landscapes; also enjoy their critical lens not just on HP but other pop-culture stories (Twilight, The Hunger Games, etc.)]
